Bauchi Speaker Urges Residents to Embrace Regular Exercise for Sound Mental, Physical Health


The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman, has underscored the significance of regular exercise in maintaining sound mental and physical health. He made this emphasis during a quarterly exercise organized by the conglomerate union of Bauchi physical fitness club, held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.

Rt. Hon. Abubakar, who joined hundreds of participants in the exercise, expressed his delight at the large turnout, noting that it was a testament to the growing awareness of the importance of physical fitness in the state. He commended the organizers for their efforts in promoting a healthy lifestyle among residents.

The Speaker stressed that exercise is not only essential for the aged, but an activity that everyone should adopt to stay healthy and free from ailments. He emphasized that regular physical activity can help prevent chronic diseases, improve mental health, and boost overall well-being.

Rt. Hon. Abubakar, who prioritizes field activities, attributed his own productive health and body strength to his weekly participation in exercise. Despite being away for 15 days and arriving back home by midnight, he made it a point to attend the exercise, demonstrating his commitment to physical fitness.

Other dignitaries present at the event included Hon. Aliyu Aminu Gary, Hon. Auwal Hassan, and Hon. Lawal Dauda. The Speaker urged residents to join various physical fitness clubs in Bauchi, emphasizing the benefits of exercise for maintaining a healthy life, body physique, and ease in discharging tasks.

He called on all and sundry to make exercise a part of their daily routine, noting that Bauchi is blessed with numerous physical fitness clubs that cater to diverse interests and needs. By embracing regular exercise, residents can improve their overall quality of life and contribute to the development of a healthier and more productive society.
