The 11th Annual Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Lecture and Merit Awards held in Bauchi witnessed a pledge by Northern leaders to sustain the ideals of Sardauna.
The event, attended by Chairman Northern Governors Forum Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir, and Secretary to the Federal Government Senator George Akume, emphasized the importance of Sir Ahmadu Bello's vision for a united, progressive, and prosperous Northern Nigeria.
Former Minister of Finance Dr. Mansur Mukhtar delivered a paper on "Nature's Bounty: Turning Northern Nigeria's Untapped Resources into Sustainable Prosperity." He highlighted the region's vast resources and the need for wise harnessing to address challenges.
Mukhtar emphasized the importance of adopting cutting-edge technologies and sustainable farming practices to enhance productivity, ensure food security, and create jobs ¹.
Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed stressed the need for unity in addressing regional challenges. He commended the Sardauna Foundation for promoting Northern Nigeria's unity and conveyed the governors' collective stance on deepening regional integration.
Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya reiterated the commitment of Northern Governors to addressing regional challenges and leveraging resources for development. He acknowledged challenges like inadequate infrastructure, high unemployment, and persistent poverty, urging collective efforts to address them.
The event featured the presentation of cheques to beneficiaries of the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation's annual scholarship program and the unveiling of the late Sardauna's portrait.
