PDP Denies Allegations of Forgery in Primary Election Guidelines

From: Daure David

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly rejected reports alleging that its Primary Election Guidelines were forged, describing such claims as misleading and sensational.

The party stated that the allegations were the result of a smear campaign orchestrated by individuals linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC), aimed at tarnishing the PDP's reputation and undermining its internal processes.

In a press statement issued on February 16th 2025, signed by the PDP's National Publicity Secretary Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the party clarified that the guidelines for its primary election, which were duly approved by the party, have not been compromised by forgery in any way.

The statement went on to accuse certain agents of the APC of attempting to discredit the PDP, suggesting that the allegations were fueled by a desire to create confusion and scandal ahead of the election process.

The party further accused these individuals of collaborating with a senior official from the APC administration, who has reportedly made multiple attempts to destabilize the PDP. According to the PDP, this official seeks to establish a one-party system, thereby dismantling democratic opposition and advancing an oppressive regime.

The PDP also condemned the reported intimidation and harassment of party officials and members, which allegedly included threats, police harassment, and attempts to stir division within party chapters.

In response, the PDP expressed concern over efforts to drag the police and a magistrate court in Abuja into its internal matters, despite legal rulings by higher courts, including the Supreme Court, which affirmed that such issues are within the exclusive jurisdiction of political parties and not the courts.

The statement concluded with a firm reaffirmation of the party’s commitment to resisting any attempts to destabilize it or undermine the democratic process. The PDP reassured its members and supporters that the allegations of forgery are baseless and should be dismissed.
