The Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has officially launched the 2025 Irrigation Agriculture Support Program, a groundbreaking initiative designed to enhance food security and promote economic growth in the state.
The program, unveiled at Zungur village in Bauchi Local Government Area, aims to support farmers during the dry season by providing them with essential agricultural inputs and equipment.
Governor Mohammed, represented by his Deputy, Auwal Muhammad Jatau, stressed the importance of maximizing the state's rich natural resources to ensure year-round agricultural production.
He explained that the program is a strategic move not only to address the current challenges faced by farmers but also to secure the future of agriculture in Bauchi State.
In his address, the Governor emphasized the direct support that would be provided to farmers. This includes the distribution of certified seeds, improved crop varieties, fertilizers, and irrigation equipment to boost crop yield and productivity.
Additionally, he highlighted the government's commitment to mechanizing agriculture, with plans to supply modern farming tools such as tractors to improve farming efficiency.
Governor Mohammed also called upon traditional rulers, community leaders, and other key stakeholders to actively encourage farmers to take part in the program.
He further invited private investors and financial institutions to collaborate with the state government in expanding agricultural mechanization, improving access to credit for farmers, and enhancing market opportunities for agricultural produce.
The Governor reiterated his administration's determination to support farmers and ensure that Bauchi State remains prosperous and food-secure. “Let us all work together to make this program a success, go out and farm, and grow a brighter future,” he urged, emphasizing the need for collective effort in achieving the program’s goals.
The 2025 Irrigation Agriculture Support Program is expected to be a game-changer for agricultural practices in Bauchi State, offering a significant boost to local farmers' productivity and improving the state's overall economic growth.
