Bauchi State Launches Major Drilling Campaign in Diji Village for Economic Transformation

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has officially launched the drilling campaign of Resident Cement Company Ltd in Diji Village, Gwana District, Alkaleri Local Government Area, marking a significant milestone in the state’s effort to harness its rich mineral resources for economic growth.

The drilling initiative is part of the state's broader strategy to tap into its vast mineral deposits and drive sustainable development, with a focus on creating jobs, empowering youth, and strengthening infrastructure across the region. 

Governor Mohammed expressed his administration's commitment to creating a secure and supportive environment for investment, especially within the solid minerals sector, which he highlighted as a crucial component of Bauchi's economic diversification.

"This initiative marks a significant step toward harnessing our state’s vast mineral resources for economic transformation," Governor Mohammed stated at the launch event. "Through strategic partnerships, we aim to drive job creation, youth empowerment, and sustainable development, positioning the solid minerals sector as a key pillar of our economic diversification strategy."

The Governor also commended Resident Cement Company Ltd for their investment in the region, which he noted would contribute to long-term economic stability and prosperity for the people of Bauchi. He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in the project for their confidence in the state’s potential.

The Group Chairman of Resident Cement Company Ltd, Dr. Abbas Waziri Junaid, praised the state government for its dedication to fostering public-private partnerships and creating a favorable environment for business. 

Similarly, Engineer Michael Olawale Ogunbiyi of the National Steel Raw Material Exploration Agency highlighted how the initiative aligns with the national goal of economic diversification, especially within the minerals sector.

Local leaders, including the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, and the District Head of Gwana, Sani Ahmed Adamu Jumba, were present at the event and expressed their support for the project, recognizing its potential to uplift rural communities. 

State House of Assembly Member Abdullahi Dan and Alkaleri Local Government Area Chairman, Retired Major Hassan Garba Bajama, also emphasized the importance of equitable resource distribution to ensure that the benefits of the project reach the grassroots.

The launch of the drilling campaign in Diji Village is expected to contribute significantly to the state's economic growth, laying the foundation for further investments and infrastructure development in Bauchi State. Governor Bala Mohammed reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that both investors and the people of Bauchi benefit from the state's natural wealth.
