The Emir of Ibi in Taraba state, HRH, Alh Abubakar Salihu Danbawuro has commended Senator David S.U Jimkuta, representing Taraba South Senatorial District, for taken a bold initiatives towards advancing educational and economic development in the region, describing the giant stride as a welcome development which is timely and taken at a right time.
Danbawuro stated while on telephone interview with our Correspondent describing sponsoring such a bill for the establishment of Federal College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, in Ibi, Taraba State by Distinguished Senator Jimkuta is a welcome development coming at a right time since such initiatives is worth commendable"
The bill, which has its first reading on the floor of the Senate was expected to seek for amendments to the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Act to pave a way for the establishment of this specialized institution.
It was expected that the proposed university if founded, it will serve as a center of excellence in fisheries, aquatic sciences, and related fields, fostering research, innovation, and capacity-building in Nigeria’s vast and largely untapped aquatic resources.
Senator Jimkuta, in his unwavering commitment to educational development, has prioritized this initiative as a strategic move to harness and develop the rich aquatic heritage of Ibi and Taraba South.
According to Senator Jimkuta this proposed institution we're hoping will not only provide quality education and research opportunities but will also contribute significantly to job creation, food security, and economic diversification through sustainable fisheries and aquaculture practices.
It will be recalled that since his inauguration as an elected Senator in the 10th Senate, Senator Jimkuta has sponsored several bills which have direct bearing on his Constituents, notably amongst are the National Tea Development Authority Bill, the Federal University, Wukari Bill, and the Institute of Chartered Trustees of Nigeria Bill, among others.
Senator Jimkuta emphasis that he will remain committed working closely with relevant stakeholders, including fellow lawmakers, the Federal Government, and the academic community, to ensure the successful passage of this bill in actualization of the proposed establishment of this viable institution.
