Obasanjo Hosts Atiku, Jonathan, Other Dignitaries at Dinner in Lagos

From: Daure David

In a notable gathering that brought together some of Nigeria's most influential political figures, former President Olusegun Obasanjo hosted a dinner for his ex-Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and several prominent dignitaries at The Delborough Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Sunday evening.

The dinner, which was attended by high-profile politicians and personalities, saw the presence of former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Koroma. The revered Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, was also part of the distinguished guest list.

Atiku Abubakar, who recently paid a visit to Obasanjo at his residence in Ota, Ogun State, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share details of the evening, saying, “I joined others at the dinner hosted by my former boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, at The Delborough Hotel, Victoria Island, in Lagos. -AA”

Other key political figures at the dinner included Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, and Oyewole Fasawe, a close associate of Obasanjo.

The gathering, although private in nature, has sparked interest across the country, with many speculating about the significance of such a meeting ahead of the 2027 presidential elections.

The presence of political heavyweights from various parts of the country, as well as the former heads of state and influential leaders, has further fueled discussions about possible collaborations or alignments among the prominent figures in Nigerian politics.

This meeting also follows a recent trend of high-profile interactions among former Nigerian leaders and political figures, as they navigate the evolving political landscape leading up to the 2027 elections.

Obasanjo, a key player in Nigeria's political history, has often played a pivotal role in shaping the country's political direction and remains a central figure to watch in the upcoming electoral cycle.

As Nigeria prepares for another round of elections, the dinner signals a growing collaboration and dialogue among political elites, and many will be watching closely to see how these engagements influence the country's political future.
