The Northern Minority Consultative Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially endorsed the expulsion of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), from the party. This decision was reached after an emergency and extraordinary meeting held in Abuja earlier today.
The Forum, under the leadership of Chairman Daure David, received the endorsement of the Executives (Excos) from the 21 Northern states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), supporting the expulsion. The expulsion is effective immediately, marking a significant step in the party's disciplinary actions.
In a statement to the press, the Forum cited "gross misconduct, anarchy, and anti-party activities" as the key reasons behind Wike’s expulsion. The leaders from the Northern states expressed their concern over Wike's alleged actions, which they believe have caused disruption within the party and undermined its unity.
"The endorsement of this expulsion reflects the unwavering commitment of the PDP Northern Minority Consultative Forum to maintain the integrity of the party. We cannot condone any form of disloyalty or behavior that goes against the party's values and objectives," Chairman Daure David stated.
The expulsion of Wike, who has been a prominent figure within the party, especially in the South-South region, adds to the ongoing tensions within the PDP. His political activities and actions in recent months have raised controversy, with many accusing him of acting against the interests of the party.
This decision by the Northern Minority Consultative Forum follows a series of disciplinary measures within the PDP, signaling a tough stance against internal divisions and disloyalty. The party is expected to continue its efforts to ensure unity and discipline as it prepares for future political battles.
The development comes at a critical time for the PDP, which has been striving to strengthen its position ahead of upcoming elections.
Further statements from the PDP National Working Committee are expected in the coming days regarding the next steps for the party following this significant move.
