RAMADAN FOOD DISPUTE TURNS DEADLY: 50-Year-Old Man Allegedly Kills Wife in Bauchi

A 50-year-old businessman, Alh Nuru Isah, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly killing his 24-year-old second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, over a dispute about Ramadan food.

In a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the incident occurred on March 1, 2025, at about 11:30 pm near Government Girls College, Fadamam Mada Area, Bauchi. 

Wakil said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect and his wife had a misunderstanding over the handling of food ingredients and fruits designated for breaking the Ramadan fast.

The dispute allegedly escalated into a violent confrontation, during which the suspect used a cane to strike his wife. The victim was rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The police have recovered the cane used in the assault and have commenced a thorough investigation into the incident. Commissioner of Police CP Auwal Musa Muhammad has assured the public that the command is committed to ensuring justice.

CSP Wakil stressed that the police command reminded the public that domestic violence is a serious offense with potentially devastating consequences, and every individual is entitled to a safe and secure environment.

The suspect, Alh Nuru Isah, is currently in police custody, and the case is under investigation.
